Výstava „Samay“: Dialog v bezčasí na plátnech dvou ikon současného umění

Na výstavě „Samay“, česky „Čas“, představují svou tvorbu Hesham Malik aktuálně působící v České republice a indický umělec Mohan Naik působící v Indii. Oba umělci přinášejí své odlišné pohledy na čas a život, které se na plátně prolínají do vrstevnatého dialogu. Mohan Naik oživuje vzpomínky z dětství v Goi prostřednictvím idylických výjevů vesničanů. Jeho díla jsou jemně propracovaná, s výraznými černými konturami na ostrém bílém pozadí, které podtrhují spojení člověka s přírodou. Naopak Hesham Malik zkoumá kulturní vnímání života a jeho proměnlivé aspekty. Ve své tvorbě se zaměřuje na každodennost lidského života, kterou analyzuje a zpracovává s jedinečnou hloubkou. Malikova díla nabízejí kontrasty i drobné podobnosti, které divákovi umožňují vnímat různé aspekty lidské existence.

Společná malba, společná vize

Spojení těchto dvou odlišných uměleckých přístupů vytváří symbiotický celek, kde se stírají individuální hranice a vznikají nejednoznačné prostorové vztahy. Plátno se stává místem, kde se realita a fikce prolínají v příbězích bezčasí. Divák je vybídnut k aktivnímu zapojení – musí konstruovat a dekonstruovat složité vizuální struktury, čímž se stává součástí uměleckého procesu. Hlavním cílem obou umělců bylo zapojit intelekt a představivost diváka. Namísto jemného odlišení forem se zaměřili na napětí ve vztazích postav a prostoru – na jejich stabilitu a nestabilitu, konkrétnost a neuchopitelnost, genezi a nevyhnutelný rozpad. Výstava „Samay“ je odvážným uměleckým počinem, který překračuje hranice kultur a otevírá prostor pro hlubokou reflexi o čase, životě a naší schopnosti hledat harmonii ve světě plném kontrastů.

Dialog uměleckých světů

Pro realizaci výstavy si umělci záměrně zvolili místo odlehlé od shonu každodenního života a oslovili malebné Městské muzeum Králíky v podhůří Králického Sněžníku, které je významným centrem místní kultury. Město Králíky přitahuje milovníky umění i z nedalekého Polska nebo Německa, ale kromě tohoto muzea s bohatými expozicemi historie, řezbářství či přírody lze navštívit též nedaleká muzea vojenské historie, Východočeský památník celnictví, Památník obětem internace kněží, poutní místo Hora Matky Boží s klášterem a kostelem Nanebevzetí Panny Marie a samozřejmě i třetí nejvyšší pohoří České republiky Králický Sněžník s pramenem řeky Moravy.

Velké poděkování tak patří ředitelům Michalu Kosovi a Daegalu Godinhovi, jejichž odborné znalosti dějin umění, tvůrčí energie a schopnost inspirovat ostatní daly vzniknout tomuto unikátnímu uměleckému projektu. Přestože působí na opačných koncích světa – jeden v českých Králíkách a druhý v indické Goi – dokázali spojit své síly a sjednotit výjimečné umělce na společných plátnech. Výsledkem jejich spolupráce je výstava „Samay“ (v překladu „Čas“), která nás zve k zamyšlení nad hledáním harmonie v dnešním uspěchaném světě.

Výstava „Samay“ bude zahájena v Městském muzeu Králíky pod vedením Michala Kose a následně představena v galerii Carpe Diem v Goi pod záštitou Daegala Godinha. Tento projekt přináší nejen kulturní propojení dvou odlišných regionů, ale také unikátní příspěvek k obohacení uměleckých komunit obou zemí. Jeho ambice a poselství jsou nepopiratelné, a my se těšíme, jaký ohlas nalezne u diváků.

O autorech

Mohan Naik

Mohan Naik, umělec pocházející z vesnice Cuncolim v indickém státě Goa, se narodil v roce 1960 a získal bakalářský titul z výtvarného umění na Goa Art College. Jeho díla často zachycují idylické vzpomínky na dětství, přičemž hlavní inspirací mu je venkovský život. Naik nachází významnou inspiraci ve svém bezprostředním okolí. Žije v odlehlé vesnici na jihu Goy, obklopen přírodou, přičemž jeho životní zkušenosti jsou pro něj největší motivací k tvorbě.

Naikova díla byla představena na řadě samostatných i retrospektivních výstav v předních institucích po celé Indii i v zahraničí, například ve Velké Británii, Skotsku, New Yorku, Singapuru a Dubaji.

Od útlého věku pozoroval vesničany a jejich rodiny při každodenních činnostech. Na svých plátnech zachycuje vzpomínky na minulost a proměny své malebné rodné vesnice. Větrem ošlehaní muži a ženy pilně pracující na polích, doprovázení kozami v časných ranních hodinách, v něm vyvolávají nostalgii a umožňují mu znovu prožít formativní léta. Na jeho plátnech se často objevují motivy, jako jsou kozy, muži a ženy, kameny a stromy – prvky, které sehrály významnou roli v jeho mládí.

Hesham Malik

Hesham Malik je mezinárodně uznávaný umělec, proslulý svým jedinečným přístupem k modernímu umění. Studoval výtvarné umění na University of Waterloo v Kanadě a specializoval se na umění a design na Parsons School of Design a v Museum of Modern Art New York.

Jeho tvorba je charakteristická živými barvami, složitými texturami a hlubokým propojením s kulturním a každodenním životem lidí. Malikova díla jsou inspirována jeho přímými interakcemi s různorodými komunitami po celém světě. Často zkoumá témata jednoty, lidské psychiky a prolínání východních a západních kultur. Schopnost vyprávět složité příběhy pomocí vrstevnatých uměleckých technik mu vynesla uznání v mnoha zemích.

„Samay“ Exhibition: A Dialogue in Timelessness on the Canvases of Two Icons of Contemporary Art

In the „Samay“ exhibition, Czech Republic-based artist Hesham Malik and India-based artist Mohan Naik present their works. Both artists bring their unique perspectives on time and life, which merge into a multifaceted dialogue on the canvases. Mohan Naik brings childhood memories from Goa to life through idyllic depictions of villagers. His works are finely detailed, with distinctive black outlines on a sharp white background that emphasize the connection between humans and nature. In contrast, Hesham Malik explores the cultural understanding of life and its mutable aspects. His work focuses on the everyday life of human existence, which he analyzes and processes with unique depth. Malik’s works offer contrasts and subtle similarities, allowing the viewer to perceive various aspects of human existence.

Shared Painting, Shared Vision

The connection between these two different artistic approaches creates a symbiotic whole, where individual boundaries blur and ambiguous spatial relationships arise. The canvas becomes the place where reality and fiction merge into timeless narratives. The viewer is encouraged to actively engage—constructing and deconstructing complex visual structures, making them part of the artistic process. Both artists‘ main goal was to involve the intellect and imagination of the viewer. Instead of finely distinguishing forms, they focused on the tension in the relationships between figures and space—on their stability and instability, concreteness and incomprehensibility, genesis and inevitable decay. The „Samay“ exhibition is a bold artistic endeavor that transcends cultural boundaries, creating space for deep reflection on time, life, and our ability to seek harmony in a world full of contrasts.

A Dialogue of Artistic Worlds

For the exhibition, the artists intentionally chose a location far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, addressing the picturesque City Museum in Králíky, in the foothills of Králický Sněžník, a significant center of local culture. The town of Králíky attracts art lovers from nearby Poland and Germany as well. In addition to this museum, with its rich exhibitions on history, woodcarving, and nature, visitors can also explore the nearby Museum of Military History, the East Bohemian Zoll Monument, the Monument to the Victims of Priest Internment, the pilgrimage site of Hora Matky Boží with its Monastery and Church of the Assumption of Mary, and the third-largest mountain range in the Czech Republic, Králický Sněžník, with the source of the Morava River.

A big thank you goes to directors Michal Kos and Daegal Godinho, whose expertise in art history, creative energy, and ability to inspire others have brought this unique artistic project to life. Although they work at opposite ends of the world—one in Czech Králíky and the other in Indian Goa—they have united their forces and brought together exceptional artists on shared canvases. The result of their collaboration is the „Samay“ exhibition (translated as „Time“), which invites us to reflect on the search for harmony in today’s hectic world.

The „Samay“ exhibition will open at the Králíky City Museum under the leadership of Michal Kos and will then be presented at the Carpe Diem Gallery in Goa under the patronage of Daegal Godinho. This project not only creates a cultural connection between two distinct regions but also makes a unique contribution to enriching the art communities of both countries. Its ambitions and messages are undeniable, and we look forward to the resonance it will evoke in the viewers.

About the autors

Mohan Naik

Mohan Naik, an artist from the village of Cuncolim in the Indian state of Goa, was born in 1960 and earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Goa Art College. His works often capture idyllic childhood memories, with rural life being his main source of inspiration. Naik finds significant inspiration in his immediate surroundings. He lives in a remote village in southern Goa, surrounded by nature, with his life experiences serving as his greatest motivation for creating art.

Naik’s works have been featured in numerous solo and retrospective exhibitions at prominent institutions across India and abroad, including in the United Kingdom, Scotland, New York, Singapore, and Dubai.

From an early age, he observed the villagers and their families in their daily activities. On his canvases, he captures memories of the past and the changes in his picturesque hometown village. Windblown men and women working diligently in the fields, accompanied by goats in the early morning hours, evoke nostalgia in him and allow him to relive his formative years. His canvases often feature motifs such as goats, men and women, stones, and trees—elements that played a significant role in his youth.

Hesham Malik

Hesham Malik is an internationally recognized artist, known for his unique approach to contemporary art. He studied fine arts at the University of Waterloo in Canada and specialized in art and design at the Parsons School of Design and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

His work is characterized by vibrant colors, intricate textures, and a deep connection to the cultural and everyday lives of people. Malik’s works are inspired by his direct interactions with diverse communities around the world. He frequently explores themes of unity, human psyche, and the merging of Eastern and Western cultures. His ability to tell complex stories through layered artistic techniques has earned him recognition in many countries.

Malik is also known for his initiative to promote children’s education and the development of their artistic talent. His openness to various cultures is enriched by his experiences from travels and stays in diverse places such as Toronto, New York, Nairobi, Cairo, Paris, Goa, and more. „Samay“- Ausstellung: Dialog in der Zeitlosigkeit auf den Leinwänden zweier Ikonen der zeitgenössischen Kunst

In der Ausstellung „Samay“ präsentieren der in der Tschechischen Republik tätige Künstler Hesham Malik und der in Indien aktive Künstler Mohan Naik ihre Werke. Beide Künstler bringen ihre unterschiedlichen Perspektiven auf Zeit und Leben ein, die auf den Leinwänden zu einem vielschichtigen Dialog verschmelzen. Mohan Naik erweckt Kindheitserinnerungen aus Goa durch idyllische Darstellungen von Dorfbewohnern zum Leben. Seine Werke sind fein ausgearbeitet, mit markanten schwarzen Konturen auf einem scharfen weißen Hintergrund, der die Verbindung des Menschen mit der Natur betont. Im Gegensatz dazu untersucht Hesham Malik das kulturelle Verständnis des Lebens und seiner wandelbaren Aspekte. In seiner Arbeit konzentriert er sich auf den Alltag des menschlichen Lebens, den er mit einzigartiger Tiefe analysiert und verarbeitet. Maliks Werke bieten Kontraste und kleine Ähnlichkeiten, die es dem Betrachter ermöglichen, verschiedene Aspekte der menschlichen Existenz wahrzunehmen.

Das Hauptziel beider Künstler war es, den Intellekt und die Vorstellungskraft des Betrachters einzubeziehen. Anstatt Formen fein zu unterscheiden, konzentrierten sie sich auf die Spannung in den Beziehungen zwischen Figuren und Raum – auf deren Stabilität und Instabilität, Konkretheit und Unbegreiflichkeit, Genese und unvermeidlichen Zerfall. Die Ausstellung „Samay“ ist ein mutiges künstlerisches Unterfangen, das die Grenzen von Kulturen überschreitet und Raum für eine tiefgehende Reflexion über Zeit, Leben und unsere Fähigkeit schafft, Harmonie in einer Welt voller Kontraste zu suchen.

Dialog der künstlerischen Welten

Für die Durchführung der Ausstellung wählten die Künstler absichtlich einen Ort fernab des hektischen Alltags und sprachen das malerische Stadtmuseum von Králíky im Vorland des Králický Sněžník an, das ein bedeutendes Zentrum der lokalen Kultur ist. Die Stadt Králíky zieht Kunstliebhaber auch aus dem nahegelegenen Polen und Deutschland an. Neben diesem Museum mit reichen Ausstellungen zu Geschichte, Schnitzerei und Natur kann man auch das nahegelegene Museum der Militärgeschichte, das Ostböhmische Denkmal des Zolles, das Denkmal der Opfer der Priesterinternierung, den Wallfahrtsort Hora Matky Boží mit Kloster und Kirche der Aufnahme Mariens sowie das drittgrößte Gebirge der Tschechischen Republik, den Králický Sněžník mit der Quelle des Flusses Morava, besuchen.

Ein großes Dankeschön geht an die Direktoren Michal Kos und Daegal Godinho, deren Fachwissen in Kunstgeschichte, kreative Energie und Fähigkeit, andere zu inspirieren, diesem einzigartigen künstlerischen Projekt Leben eingehaucht haben. Mohan Naik

Mohan Naik, ein Künstler aus dem indischen Dorf Cuncolim im Bundesstaat Goa, wurde 1960 geboren und erwarb einen Bachelor-Abschluss in Bildender Kunst am Goa Art College. Seine Werke fangen oft idyllische Kindheitserinnerungen ein, wobei das ländliche Leben seine Hauptinspiration ist. Naik findet bedeutende Inspiration in seiner unmittelbaren Umgebung.
